UK CPM Parking Charge Notice

Hi folks,

Last week the driver of one of my vehicles let me know that the vehicle was issued a PCN by UK CPM while it was parked in my allocated parking place at my rented flat.

I must confess that having read the newbies advice I was inclined to just pay up and avoid the seemingly drawn out hassle and stress that would appear to follow. But I guess that!!!8217;s what these scum want you to do and having thought about it for a week and seen today!!!8217;s news I am now determined to challenge this.

I have one query if someone would be able to answer.

The PCN indicates that UK CPM are members of BOTH the BPA and IPC, however when I check the BPA list of Approved Operators UK Car Park Management is not listed as a current member.

Given that the newbies advice is different according to membership of each I wanted to know which advice I should follow if a company claims to be a member of both, especially as they don't show on the BPA list. I am assuming follow the advice for the BPA, but its always good to check with knowledgeable people.

Many Thanks

its been answered many times before, they are corporate members of both trade bodies but they choose to pay the IPC for their IAS ADR service so appear on their AOS list

so the BPA list you are looking at is not a member list , its an AOS list so completely different

so follow the IPC advice of appeal once using the template , then ignore unless an LBC or an MCOL arrives within 6 years

dont bother us about debt collector letters, the DCA are powerless

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you for the clarification RedX
  • Hi all,

I consider myself to be a clever chap, and I'm still confused.

Are UK CPM members of either of these bodies as they suggest they are?

I can't see them on the AOS list of either BPA or IPC website's (as of 30/07/2018).

    Thanks in advance!

They are IPC AOS members. The 'search by initial letter of PPC' on the IPC website seems not to be working of late, so you have to effectively scroll through the entire list. UKCPM are listed on page #6.

must confess that having read the newbies advice I was inclined to just pay up and avoid the seemingly drawn out hassle and stress that would appear to follow.

But it is your space, you own the right to park there. Why give some knuckle dragging ex-clamper some of your hard eared rent. Especially now the we landlords are being taxed to the hilt by the gummint.

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.

The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the House of Commons recently

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas.

UK CPM signs in my residential development state they are members of BPA. I have checked on their website and it clearly states they are members. Also checked the list of BPA member on the BPA site and they are listed under U for UK Car Park Management. The list is current for November 2018 and updated each month. What is interesting is that they are replacing old signs and the new ones do not state membership of the BPA. Perhaps they are leaving the BPA.

Parking companies can belong to both the BPA and the IPC if they want to waste their money.

They can only use one ATA to get DVLA info.
UKCPM decided to use the scam IPC/IAS

You won't find them on the official BPA AOS list:

Perhaps they are leaving the BPA.
They left the BPA AOS on 01/10/2015 to join the IPC AOS:
