PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. Please also avoid posting personally identifiable information, including links to your own online property listing which may reveal your address. Thank you for your understanding.

Anyone else found the 'edit' button on their posts disappears after 5 minutes?

You'll do well if it's even there for five minutes, most are reporting half that.
(Several threads already on the subject.)0 -
Actually not against this (although my typos will be forever there)
Stops people editing in info/editing out info which makes the replies look stupid. Stops people removing them entirely.
The only thing that could be problematic is when people post personal info without thinking but I suppose a modera... sorry a board guide could fix that?0 -
It's the weekend. Isn't it just a glitch?0

Anti-spam temporary measure..0 -
wow thanks, never thought to look for posts on the subject
just thought I'd been put in "special" moderation measures for the weekend. Was going to send a ticket but could not find pout how to report one!0 -
And there was me, hoping it'd stop all those "I've had answers I don't like, so I'll delete the OP" threads.0

I frequently edit my posts. Corrrecting typos is not a major issue - just be more careful initially. But I often re-think a post, or search out a reference source to add - havig to make an additional post will make my posts, and the forum generally, less usable.
And that's not to mention my reference posts which get updated whenever someone tells me of an error (thanks artful for yesterday!), or the law changes.
Then there are multiple other posts elsewhere in the forum (like those listing savings providers) which are regularly kept up to date.0 -
Seems to be a reaction to a spam attack: various other threads on the topic, includingJust to explain, five minutes ago there was a post now deleted by savemoney showing a message from the spammer.
It basically outlined their intent of taking this site down.0 -
I've now received this from mse:Unfortunately there have been some temporary measures implemented over the weekend due to some problems which you may have spotted: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5784798 - MSE Andrea has posted in #6 - this is one of the issues we are battling at the moment.
They are temporary whilst we are dealing with permanent fixes along side our techies so please bear with us, it won't be permanent and we do appreciate it is causing problems.0
