Door replacement/refurbishment?

Hi All,
My house has a UPVC porch. However, the door leading into the porch is glass/wood with a few gaps (like the picture below) etc so I'm sure it's not the most energy efficient (I currently have a curtain covering it!).
However, I would like to refurbish it/replace it to make it more energy efficient. I've never replaced a door in my life, so:
1) Is it worth replacing the current door for a UPVC door? Or just getting a carpenter/a tradesman to re-hang the door or 'something like that'?
2) Doors seem very expensive. Is there any way to keep the budget down - e.g. reclaimed second hand doors etc?
3) What sort of cost would I be looking at to complete the work?
Thanks!
Z

I don't seem to be able to edit my own post to include the pic of the door so here is a link to the pic of the door:
