Painting over gloss ceiling

I'm painting the bathroom and it looks like the previous home owner put gloss paint on the ceiling. :mad: Have got some bathroom soft sheen emulsion. Seeing as it is not a matt paint, can I just paint over without any surface prep?
Normally I would sand first but sanding the ceiling would be a bit of a nightmare. I've also used speciality Zinsser paint as a base in the past, but it's all extra expense. Thanks

I would give it a light sand to ensure adhesion. If you can borrow a circular sander it won't take too long.0
