I bet there will be the die hard fans of anything with the Apple logo that will be putting it on their "must have" list and queuing outside the shops with cash in hand.
personally I think that Apple have missed the boat on this item yet they know their core base will buy it anyway.
Good luck to the people with more money than sense but like you I will not be one of them.
  • If they had released it before Christmas I might have, however I bought a Sonos Play:1 instead and that has sorted out my music playing requirements.

Apple have definitley missed the boat on this, the boat is on the horizon, its way gone. Alexa and Googles iteration work on with both operating systems so folk have bought either of them 2.

And the price, £319, jeez thats alot of money. I can see a smaller version and a cheaper one being released at some point to appeal to more of the audience.

They know they can't compete with Alexa and Google with the voice stuff yet but by all the reports the sound quality off it is suppose to be excellent and they're pushing it as an audio speaker first and foremost.

If I had the money I would be tempted as I already subscribe to Apple music but for now I will hold off and see what happens long term.

Would I be interested? Afraid not, and that's coming from an Apple fan/sheep!

I've got two Sonos Play: 1 speakers at home and if I wished to add a 'smart assistant' it's possible to hook up an Amazon Echo device to them.

I looked at it but it's far too expensive. I have my iMac hooked up to a separate amp and speakers with full access to Apple Music (and Siri, not that I bother with it) so I doubt the sound quality will be better than that. I did go for the Mk1 Amazon Echo when they knocked off £50 as an intro offer, but quite honestly I don't use it much.
