Buying a spare tyre

Recently bought a Skoda Fabia (nearly 3 years old)

Under the boot floor there's a foam insert with a towing eye, locking nut key and an air compressor - no squirty stuff so must have been used or mislaid at some point.

I want to buy a spare tyre to put in there. Have done some googling
Think I'll go for a space saver as I've always managed fine with one in my own car - and unfortunately I've had a lot of punctures!

I've done a bit of googling but can anyone recommend a reputable place online for ordering space savers?

I've found thewheelshop.co.uk
Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

Savings target June 18 - £22,281.99 / £25,000

Try eBay if you want a spacesaver, they come out of write-offs, or people sell them when they get a proper sized spare.
You will also need the jack- ebay again.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Make sure you don't actually buy just a "spare tyre" otherwise you will have alot of difficulty changing the tyre in the event of a puncture ! :rotfl:
What you want is a spare wheel with a tyre fitted!.

Measure up and see if the boot well will hold a full size wheel, that way if you ever need it you can fit it and you're back to normal, not limited by speed or range, and can get a new tyre in your own time and can shop around, rather than needing one in a hurry.

    I'd second the EBay suggestion.

Yes, I’ve just bought a spare alloy wheel with good tyre and jack kit off eBay for my son’s car. £30 + £8 postage.

Skoda will sell you a wheel/tyre/jack package for about £100, which will be designed to fit in the well of the boot.

There is a safety issue with a spare wheel - it must be secure so that it doesn't become a missile in the event of a crash. An OEM wheel is more likely to be designed to fit. Just a thought.

I sort of assumed that the OP would get a Skoda spacesaver rather than one that wouldn't fit, but I guess you can't assume anything ;)

I purchased a space saver, jack etc for a a Vectra of Ebay for £20, another time I purchsed four full size used steel wheels and tyres for £30. Plenty of bargains out there is you look and maybe wait or travel.

A good way of doing this is to jack up the car and try one of the existing road wheels.
