I am currently in the process of buying a new house. I have just just spoken to the survayer about having a survary/valuation on the new house that is not yet built. He told me it would cost 300 pounds for a basic survey. Firstly how can they survay a house that is not built and put a correct valuation on it? Secondly how…

The last time I moved house, I contacted the bank who were providing me with a mortgage and asked them for a list of approved surveyors and contacted one of them direct and by cutting out the middleman i.e. the bank I saved about £50 that was 4 years ago...I also heard after I moved that if someone else has already done a survey on the house you can ask your solicitor to get you a copy of that report at a reduced cost. I agree that a survey should not be conducted until a completion certificate has been given on the property....Hope this helps
