Any insurers allow keeping policy after passing test?

Just helping my daughter renew her insurance on her car on her provisional licence. The cheapest policies through comparison sites (even with me as named driver) warn that they will be cancelled as soon as she passes her test - with a far from generous pro rata refund.

Does anyone have experience of good insurers who allow the policy to stay in place after passing under the same terms - or with a modest premium increase rather than cancellation? There doesn't seem to be a way of filtering for this when searching for quotes.

Of course there's still some maths to do if the premium is a lot higher - and weighing it up against the saving on no longer paying for driving lessons.

Thanks for your help with this. Tim

  • Hi, unfortunately not. As a provisional licence holder she needs to have an experienced driver with her in the car at all times. once she passes she does not need to have anyone with her so the risk changes dramatically from an insurers perspective.

Hi - Thanks for that - DL quote was £1055 compared with £376 with Flux that would cease on passing.
