Switching through Topcashback+Lumo

TCB seem to offer the highest cashback (£51) for switching through (to?) Lumo. It's some odd company that "began as a price recommendation site comparing UK energy tariffs to help consumers find the right plan for them", but also " now offers it’s own dual fuel fixed-rate tariff".

I just want to make sure that the cashback is paid for both switching to Lumo and switching through them:

Save money by switching to Lumo's new app-only energy tariff. Lumo also shows you the whole market, so if you decide Lumo’s not for you, you can still switch to another supplier.
Can anybody confirm this?

Any comments and suggestions for a better way are welcome.
I have to confess that I don't have much experience in switching and am considering switching to OVO Energy for saving potentially ~£190 p.a. compared to my current E.ON plan (can save ~£170 by switching to 1-year fix within E.ON).

If you are hoping for any cashback from TCB, my advice is don't.

I can confirm that they have failed to honour cashback for my last 3 claims.
Well, to be fair, even they seem too embarrassed to reject the last claim, and claim to still be chasing it 12 months on.
(I've given up all hope long ago)

I don't use them anymore (except for occassional Snap & Save where you submit a till receipt)

I have never had any problems like this with Quidco, who are now my cashback site of choice.
Quidco also have a best cashback guarantee (which they honour efficiently) ... but obviously only applies if Quidco offer cashback from that merchant.

    Thank you.
Don't know if Quidco improved recently, but I lost faith in them many years ago and prefer TCB. I know, they are getting worse too, but I still take my chances and so far don't remember loosing any big cashbacks (for all insurances, £176+£160 for Shepherds Friendly ISAs recently).

Quidco offers £50 for Luma too, and their wording is the same as at TCB.
So, I still would like to hear some confirmation, that the cashback is paid for switching through as well, not only for switching to.

Quidco say they will pay £50 for a dual fuel switch (or £25 for a single fuel switch)
This can be either to Lumo Energy, or to any other supplier that Lumo allow you to switch to via their comparison site.

Warning - it looks like they are slow in paying. Some people have been waiting over 5 months for their cashback, but it seems they do pay eventually.
(although possibly not if you switch again before they pay out)

I'd probably stick with the more well known (tried & tested) comparison sites if they will switch you to your chosen supplier

    e.g.
Simply Switch pay £38 for a dual fuel switch (via quidco)
Energylinx will pay £37 for dual fuel (via quidco) or £34 direct (google for the link)
EHL will pay £34 for a dual fuel switch (using MSE link)
UKPower will give you £30 for a dual fuel switch (via quidco)
GoCompare will pay £28 for a dual fuel switch (via quidco) - expires tomorrow
MSE CEC will pay £25 for a dual fuel switch
  • personally ive used both quidco and topcashback , the latter I used to get £67 with Npower, just over a year ago and had no issues with them

ive had 1 or 2 issues with both quidco and topcashback at somepoint with cashback being declined for 1 reason or other, you have option on both to make a claim if they are declined

cashback sites are never 100% guaranteed to pay out, treat them as a bonus nothing else until its in your bank
