Buying a house, survey results

I am buying a house and have just had the survey results back. They state that we should get experts to look at the roof as there is evidence of dampness and dampness on the ground floor as the damp proof course has been breached by the block paved driveway. The surveyor recommends a new roof, and electrical rewiring. Is this a good bargaining tool to get the sellers to drop the price of the house to aid the cost of repairs.

Erm, yes.
The drive won't be too hard to rectify, you just need to remove the bricks up against the wall, take it back, get it neatened off and ensure the DPC isn't being breached anymore.
Roof and electrics, you're looking at a few thousand pounds and some redecorating!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Most surveyors would "recommend" new roof & electrics on most properties, but it doesn't mean that it's essential or even necessary.
If both are satisfactory, then the seller is unlikely to drop the price, but you can ask
Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac
