Somehow I think this one may be on the market for some time.

What an earth can you do with it? A beautiful part of the world to be sure but with no planning permission? Suit a keen rambler perhaps?

I wonder if the lack of PP is due to the Earl of Arundel being concerned about being overlooked?
If it was handy for me, I'd be tempted to do it up, then fight the council (on legal aid of course) when they tried to... well what would they do?"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.
"I think I'll become an alcoholic," said Betty.0 -
Just don't tell my husband. He'd have it :rolleyes:Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Well, it is in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales National Park so that may have something to do with the difficulty in getting PP. Even if PP were granted it is quite a hike (literally) from the nearest road and even further to the nearest place you could park a car.
What I cannot work out is what it can be used for. The ad says there is no problem restoring it to its former use but what was that? It does not really look like one of the traditional Dales barns. Mind you, if I had a spare £55,000 I wouldn't mind owning 4 acres of the Dales. Just love the bit about no services and an unreliable stream for water.0 -
planning permission is the big one, otherwise you are just buying some fields with a wreck on them.
If it has water then you could build a reed bed sewage system, use a combination of solar, wind and a generator for power.
getting there would simply be a matter of buying a quad bike, its not actually that remote, on the map its like 15 miles from some major towns so it could suit someone looking for a country home or just a holiday place.
of course the government would prefer it fall into ruin rather than god forbid live on the sacred green belt, i mean its only 86% of the total available land area (93% in scotland).0 -

Seriously, a shooting lodge would be my guess.A house isn't a home without a cat.
Those are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others.
I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.
It's a recession when your neighbour loses his job; it's a depression when you lose yours.0
