Pass My parcel courier firm

Hi, I would appreciate some advice, I posted with Pass my parcel an ebay item worth £35 on dec 17th. They have just located it after saying for weeks that it was lost . To return it to me they want me to pay £11.75. They claim they made numerous attempts to deliver.(I have message threads from 2-4 weeks ago stating that they didnt t know where it was).
This seems really unjust to have to pay for its return to me, it's as if they are saying its all been my fault :0(
oh and the original postage was approx £4.

Is there any tracking and if so, what does it say?
  • it says 3 things. Received 17th dec, arrived at depot 12th jan , delivery failed 15th jan. Thats all. And even though it says delivery failed, they still maintained in writing until now that it had been lost and was on its way back to me.
  • They're going to destroy my parcel if I don't pay the 11.75

If you need it back pay the amount and then complain / escalate as necessary.
Next time use a decent courier service.
  • I know that now. Its my local shop that offers it and I didn't think it would be a problem. Amazon use them as a return service too so I took that as validation

What do their T&C say about deliveries and how many attempts they make (I am on a work pc and can't view).

Do they state the charge for x failed deliveries?

8.7 We will make a minimum of one attempt to deliver a Parcel to the Delivery Address during a Working Day. If we are unable to obtain a delivery receipt at the Delivery Address, you irrevocably agree that we may attempt to:

    (a) deliver the Parcel to a neighbour’s address; or

    (b) deliver the Parcel to a safe and secure location at the Delivery Address (which shall include posting the Parcel through a letter box); or

    (c) deliver the Parcel to a local post office branch or collection point,

provided that if any of the above alternative delivery methods is successful, we will leave at the Delivery Address details of the location to which we delivered the Parcel.

8.8 Where we are unable to deliver the Parcel in accordance with clause 8.7, we will return the Parcel to our premises and leave a note for the Recipient at the Delivery Address requesting they contact us to make alternative delivery arrangements to the Delivery Address. If the Recipient does not contact us to arrange alternative delivery arrangements within the timescales stated in the note we will attempt to return the Parcel to you at your cost. Such cost shall be payable by you before we re-deliver the Parcel to you. If we cannot return the Parcel to you (e.g. because we do not have a valid address or you fail to accept delivery when attempted) then we may dispose of the Goods or destroy them at your cost and charge an administration fee of £6. Before we do this we will hold the Goods at your sole risk.
  • thanks everyone. The problem i have is that they haven't made all these attempts. Its been lost up until now. I was even promised my original postage back at one point. Now i owe THEM money and they've not provided any kind of service. I guess there's nothing I can do but comply though.
