My car insurances direct debit got cancelled for some reason.
I was due payment on the 16th and paid 9 days later having received a "default 87 (1)" letter.
Would paying 9 days later affect my credit score? I ask as if like to apply for a mortgage in the future.
A bit !!!!ed off as it's only 9 days :-|
Regards,
Ken

If a default appears on your credit file, lenders will take it in to account. They're unlikely to see it as a positive.
You don't have a credit score.0 -
Sure, my question is this. Considering that I had two weeks to pay the sum, and I paid it 5 days before the date, does my account enter into default?
Considering this particular case, what is it that happens?0 -
If the payment was paid by the due date, there is no issue.
It is was late, it could be recorded as a late payment. A full blown default is something different.0 -
Thanks for the reply ZX81,
let me rephrase something. on the "default 87 (1)" letter it states to pay it by february and it was paid today, the direct debit payment was missed, however I payed it before the "default 87 (1)" letter's due date (february).

What's a default notice?
This is a letter from your creditor warning that your account is about to default because you're behind with your payments.
The default notice will give you at least two weeks to catch up with any missed payments. If you can do this your account will carry on as normal. If you can't pay the missed payments in this time your account will default.I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.0
