I moved from JSA to ESA on the 2nd November 2017 and yet the payment stayed the same £73.10 a week. I went on ESA as i have Lung disease. January 2018 i had to go for a Medical Assessment by DWP. The payment stayed the same. This year in January I went to another medical assessment as requested by DWP and my payments changed from £73.10 pw to £127.15 per week.
Am i entitled to a rebate and if so what should i do? I have worked all my life until July 2012 and i am now 48.
I would be extremely grateful for any advice.:money:0 -
So you were placed in the support group after the assessment in January?0

Rebate? when you had your first assessment in January 2018 because the payment stayed the same then i'm assuming you were placed into the WRAG. Those than claimed ESA after April 2017 and were placed into this group will receive no extra money each week.
Since your last re-assessment and you were placed into the Support Group then the new payments will start from when a decision is made.0 -
Sorry i'm new to this site. I didn't understand about the thread.
So it looks like i'm not entitled to a rebate. My confusion is that if it was confirmed i have Lung disease in 2017, and now after this re assessment my payments have gone up, why was i not getting this amount last year when the diagnosis was the reason for going on ESA. I guess that's just the way the system is.0 -

If you were you having radiotherapy or chemotherapy (or recovering from them) in January 2018 and had the back page of the ESA50 questionnaire filled out by someone on your medical team confirming this you would have automatically been placed in the Support Group.
Presumably, as you had a face to face, you were not having either of these treatments in which case benefit is awarded on the basis of how your illness affects you, not on the basis of a diagnosis.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
To confuse the issue, her bank account used to be a joint account with both myself and my mother. I opened my own bank account about 12 months ago purely for Child Maintenance purposes.
I didn't bother moving my DWP benefits into my new account as it was easier for me to manage everything via my mother's account as it was our joint account since 2004.
The account into which your mother's benefits are paid is now a sole account but your benefits are still paid into it?
I would have thought it would be wise to open an account of your own to receive your money - you say that you prefer to keep your existing sole account for CM but you could always open another.
With regard to your mother's pension payment, has she cashed in the whole of a pension?
You say that part of it has been taxed - have you checked whether the amount of tax taken is correct in your mother's circumstances?0 -
