Triangle Group

Hi All

I have just had a phone call from Triangle group saying they are trying to arrange a free annual check of my solar system paid for by the green tariff.

Usually I say no to having this done as they always seem to want to talk to me about getting a battery to store energy as well, this time the guy assures me it is just a check of the system.

Anyone know if this is legit or is it some sort of sale scam when they get here please?

Thanks

There is no such thing as a free lunch in business terms. They are looking for an ‘in’ to sell you something. The only Triangle Group that I can find went into liquidation earlier this month. Is the Company based in Birmingham?
  • I don't know call was from a mobile and you could hear it was a call centre type environment from the background noise

There is nothing to check on a solar PV system. If the panels are connected to the inverter, and the inverter is feeding your wiring, then it's fine.Eventually the inverter will fail: then you replace it at your expense, unless still in warranty.
It's just a sales ruse to get into the property and then flog you something. There is no green tariff payment for inspecting solar PV.

    Hi

There's also a strong possibility that "a free annual check of my solar system paid for by the green tariff." can be translated as meaning they'll want to offer the choice of a number of 'maintenance' contract packages which in the end result in little more than an annual panel clean, brushing the dust off the inverter and drinking a couple of mugs of tea to extend the on-site time ... there's plenty of people I know who have recently had calls or doorstep visits to sell this service (£100-£200/year if they can get away with it!) ... of course they'd maintain that the customer wouldn't actually be paying for the service as it would be covered by money being received from the FiT payment (ie the 'green tariff').

Rain rinses most of the dirt off my panels & every so often snow gives them a good scrub!
