Cheap Paving Stones

I have moved into a council property with a small outside space. I did grass the area but its proving to be a real mud attracter for my dogs. I need to pave the area (25m2) as cheaply as possible.

Looking around, paving seems to be quite expensive, about £500 which I just can't afford. Even used paving.

Does anyone have any ideas? I am sick of mopping my lounge four or five times a day and its still dirty lolol or trying to clean their paws before they come in. No I am not going to remove the dogs!

Yes I do have permission to have the dogs in the property.

Put in a request on Freecycle/Gumtree?

My Dad bought ex-council paving slabs when he happened to spot them in the paper.

Weed control fabric, preferably heavy duty, 125gm/m2 from somewhere like QVS + pegs (or old slabs) to hold it down. You can then cover with gravel later, if desired, and meanwhile keep the dogs' claws trimmed.

Edit: Alternatively, you may be able to get a drop-off of old carpet from a local carpet shop to use in a similar way. Mine's wool and the grass has grown right through it now. Luckily, it was a nice green to start with! It was supposed to be excluding light from a vegetable plot, but I'm still mowing it. :o

Try here https://www.clearancepaving.co.uk/concrete-paving-slabs/?start=12&per_page=12 . We’ve had slabs before that were supposedly seconds , but aside from being a bit grubby they were perfect. If you’re not fussy about colour etc, you should find something to suit
