Credit card refund

I've received a letter from Bank of Scotland advising me that they recently undertook a review of their internal collections process and that following an assessment of my financial circumstance they didn't always take the appropriate course of action when dealing with my account and have offered me a refund covering a six month period in 2014. Has anyone else had a similar letter? I'm not sure if this is to stop a bigger payout later? Any help appreciated, should I cash it or wait? Thx
