  • Did an AI study that had more than 30 claims to check. I wasn't able to finish them all within the hour so I closed out as usual after the hour but I was asked to return the study. I think if you don't submit at least one full task it registers as an error. I'll normally continue for an additional 5 minutes past the hour if it seems like I'll be able to complete the task but I'd already gone over by 10 minutes on a previous task and didn't want to do that again.
  • I've had that before.  I ended up getting as far as I could, then rating the claims I didn't have time for as can't confidently assess as not enough time given for the task.  I'd query that one with them definitely though as there is nothing in the instructions about what to do in those situations.

It's annoying that it's in dollars because I seem to lose a bit of money in the PayPal conversion and now I make a random amount like £14.91 instead of an even £15.
Yes, I thought the exchange rate wasn't making much difference (and actually I was doing slightly better because of the strong $).  I just withdrew a decent amount though and the paypal conversion rate was about £5 less than the estimated amount shown on Prolific (it's always been pretty spot on up to now).

I sent them a message saying that I'd be willing to return it if necessary but asking them to explain the best practice for the next time it happens. They aren't particularly good at replying to messages though and sometimes you just have to return a study even when it's not particularly fair in order to protect your account and maintain access to the good studies.
  • Do these AI studies just randomly appear for you or is there something you need to select?

Any that you are eligible for show up and if you want to do them then you start the survey. Sometimes with the AI ones, a few different ones are available and I then choose the ones that I know are going to suit my style of thinking although its often not obvious as the titles are very similar indeed . No selection outside of that though - you are either offered them or you aren't. And it does seem to go in cycles.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

The different AI studies often show up as an initial training study with a quiz that you need to pass. Once you get one of those you're added to a list and when they put those studies up they show up on your dashboard. If you miss the initial study you don't see them but they sometimes repeat the onboarding process if they have lots of studies available or have removed people from the list for whatever reason.
There's several types of AI studies though. You can be on some lists but not others.
  • There's a new version of the AI fact check study up and I can't say I'm a fan. There's a bit of a learning curve. I am not sure I'm doing it correctly.

Agreed - did you get to do a tutorial for it?  The intro mentions one, but the link didn't work for me and I wasn't sure whether I'd get paid for it anyway.  The instructions don't seem to fully match the questions either - I feel like I'm blundering through it somewhat!
  • I tried and failed to do the tutorial since it wouldn't load. I read the instructions within the task and tried to follow them as well as I could but I definitely made mistakes. There's lots of tasks available and If they were the other kind I would have aimed for 4 hours but I don't really want to do these ones.
