Have received a strange message from a researcher and unsure what to do the actual survey itself toke ages to download which is why it toke so long the maximum allowed time was 87 minutes so I am unsure why I should return the submission
Thank you for taking part in part 3 of the experiment on Tuesday evening last week. I can see that you took about 25 minutes to complete the experiment but it took you quite a while to start the study. Prolific is also errantly reporting your time taken on the study as closer to 50 minutes. I am happy to accept the data and process a payment for the time you actually spent completing the study if you could please return this submission? I will then process the payment separately. Many thanks.

Many thanks. Are they saying that they want to pay you less because you took less time than expected to complete the study? If so, that is completely unacceptable - the payment promised in the study invitation is contingent on you completing the study and your submission being acceptable, not on how long you took to do it.If, on the other hand, they are offering to pay you the correct amount, the only reason I can think of for them wanting to do it this way is that the longer time registered by Prolific might earn them a black mark for underpaying.1 -
