Loan Repayment after retirement?

Options
Please can someone help. I have made 6 phone calls to the student loan company, filled in 5 forms in 3 months and they still need more information?
I studied for a teaching PGCE in 2008 and received a student loan in order to complete the study.
I then started work as a teacher in 2009 and began automatic repayment of my student loan. I continued to make payments until 2017 when at age 55 I decided to retire.
I have savings that I collected prior to teaching and had these invested in a managed fund. This managed fund now gives me a tax free income every month.
I have now filled in 4 student income forms explaining that I am retired - they do not have a category retired living off savings - if you are not in receipt of a pension you are described as unemployed.
The student loan company now want a statement from my investment company to show that the funds I am receiving are mine and the total value of the funds I have saved.
I receive less than £1500 per month and the investments from which I draw my monthly income are tax free. I have never filled in a self evaluation tax form in my life?
Do I still have to make my student loan repayments?
I am going round in circles at the moment and losing the will.....

If you don't have the earnings you don't have to make payments, but you do need to prove the lack of earnings.
