Audi TDI owners known issue ignored

A few weeks ago while driving to work the oil pressure warning light came on the dash, I immediately came to a halt and called my rescue service which is part of my bank subscription. They soon arrived and connected a diagnosis tool which revealed that the turbo had blown.
After towing me to my local garage the car was inspected and confirmed turbo had blown however after replacing the turbo a few days later the garage confirmed that there continued to be no oil pressure. They identified that the oil pump had failed which was the cause of the turbo failure and could have resulted in the engine ceasing up.
The garage located the oil pump and established that the balancer shaft had broken and disintegrated. The garage comments confirmed that this was the cheapest piece of metal he had ever seen and no wonder it had broken. On ordering a replacement part from Audi the representative confirmed that it happens all the time and is a known issue.
I contacted Audi to see if they would be prepared to contribute to the four figure repair bill given it was a known weakness in the engine. They initially told me to take it to a audi dealership where a inspection would be arranged at a cost of £100 and that they would accept no liability. I explained that their own parts department were aware that this part was prone to fail but was greeted by silence. To this date I have received no response to my e-mails despite their so called commitment to customer service.
Well four Audi’s in I will not be purchasing another one if they think it’s acceptable to have vehicles on the road with known faults.
Buyer beware.

Why not tell us which Audi it is so that other owners of that model can decide whether they wish to follow your advice?0

Year and mileage would also give us some context too...which TDI engine is it?No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Audi A4 2.0 TDI, 2009, 50,000 miles.

So it’s been perfectly fine for nine years, although the mileage is very low for the age that is not always a good thing because it means it hasn't been driven regularly, or if it has its over very short distances which is not really the best for a Diesel engine. My three year old car has more mileage than that.
Can’t really see how it’s a major problem given the age of the car, and it in no way implies that there is a manufacturing fault.0 -
I thought I had heard of issues with this engine, this link has some info:
