Systemate 2000 - efficient or not??

I have just moved into a new flat and the heating/hot water is run by the systemate 2000. There is boiler connected to the systemate, the boiler powers up even when the heating is off and the hot water has not ran for a while (seems to do this every couple of minutes). It seems a really inefficient. Has anyone had experience with this type of set up? and any advise on what setting the boiler should be on?

If you look at the instruction manual it says the boiler should be on all the time at it's max temperature. Look on the Gledhill website if you havent got them

I have no experience of the Sytsemate 2000 but I'm guessing that if the boiler keeps firing then the thermal store isn't getting hot enough because someone has turned the boiler down or off so it's always trying to get it up to operating temperature. It's the thermal store that controls the boiler.

The Boilermate 2000 is a thermal store hot water and shoud provide near instant hot water as the the water is heated by a seperate circuit contained within. These are very reliable I have had one for eighteen years without problems or service except the pump timer board which buzzed with failed capacitors these are available at Maplins with a little flux.

Alongside a Potterton Suprima which again except for a refubished circuit board in 2006 has been absolutely fine and never been serviced in eighteen years. Many people had later condensing boilers fitted but the suprima is due to see the first of these having to be replaced. It should be set permantly to max as mentioned. The two above go on and on without a thought.

If its not broken don't fix it.they are economical and reliable.
