locked google admin / account?

Hey guys & girls. :beer:

I’m really hoping someone can help with this issue as its not only driving me insane, its also going to cost a pretty penny which we’re also trying to avoid. :mad:

My F-I-L had a tablet computer brought for him last Christmas (2016) On the tablet it asked him to create a google profile. This was done for him because he is new to technology & also very forgetful. The information & passwords was written down for safe keeping.

However, he’s managed to completely lock himself out the tablet.
Its had a hard set as per the internet suggested however once its restarted it ask for the same google / Gmail information. We have put in all the information we know and remember (as it seems F-I-L has changed it and don’t remember)

We’ve tried to find a way to contact google, But haven’t managed yet, All the recovery & verification passwords are not being accepted either?
Is the tablet ruined? Is it a case of this has now killed the tablet & its just getting a new one to resolve?
It’s a acer tablet. Just a basic one (Not much help but it seems all the boxes and paperwork is binned & surprise, surprise no one can remember which acer one it is )

You have done this ??

Power off the tablet. Press and hold the Volume Up and the Power button.
SD Image Update Mode
wipe data/factory reset
Yes - delete all user data
Reboot system now
Your tablet will reboot and go to the Welcome screen.



It should then be like it was when it came out of the box and you can simply create a new google account for it.
With the caveat that you will have to re-download/buy all your apps again

has it got factory reset protection? if so, did you wait the recommended time before attempting to login after resetting the account (on another device)

Yes. I tried after 24 hours. I don't know if it has any reset protection. I followed the steps above. ?

may have to wait 72 hours. you should be able to reset on a pc without contacting google. might be easier to contact acer support

Maybe take it to the shop purchased from ( if not online ) and ask if they could do a factory reset in the shop? Or perhaps a friend may try that ? Has f I l downloaded anything ? If not and you get it reset , just go into preferences and create another gmail account .

Someone should be with him and keep his user name and password incase something similar happens in the future.
