Any Worcester/Boiler engineers that could offer a view on this video

I recently moved into a house with a Worcester 30 CDI boiler and 'Intelligent' programmer. The boiler is 6.5 years old and has recently been checked/serviced (by the Vendor on request of me) and it came back with No Faults. Prior to this it does not appear to have been serviced regularly unfortunately.

I am having issue with getting the heating to come on, and stay on, at least over extended periods.

I am experienced with setting up the programmes on these boilers having owned one in my old property for 11 years. The programme is currently set to come on at 6 am and go off at 10am, amongst other times. I woke up this morning to warm radiators, but not hot. When I checked the boiler, the display showed that it was 'off', instead of 'timed'. I had put it on 'timed' prior to going to bed.

The 'heating' light on the left is flashing green and pressing 'select' to change the mode did not work. However, when I looked back about 15 seconds later, it had gone from 'off' to 'timed' and the boiler started firing. Prior to taking the video, I had tried to select the mode a number of times without it moving, so it does not appear to be a delay in pressing the button to mode changing.

Apologies for the poor video, but this shows what I saw. The initial part of the video shows what I saw. It then goes dark while I try to move the light I had in my hand around to get a better shot and by the time I went back, it had changed mode to 'timed'

I did see the heating light flash red a number of times prior to the boiler firing.

I am tempted to replace the programmer with one of the Worcester Wave thermostats, or even the Comfort 2 but before I do that, suggestions would be extremely welcome.

Thanks

Is it paired with the room stat?

When it fires up for that very short time it could be firing up to pre heat the hot water, turn the hot water timer off, the pre heat light will then come on. See if the heating fires then when you select timed or on.

Yes, when it works, the stat happily controls the boiler. I tested this again after the video, it had reached the desired temp so I changed it up and the boiler then fired (this was once it had gone into 'timed' mode).

Looks like a fault with the plug in timer or possibly the PCB then, would think it’s more likely the timer.

When the heating light is flashing green it means the room digistat is not connecting to the boiler and the boiler will turn off, you are unable to use any of the controls on the boiler to get it to come on, If you haven't already then replace the batteries in the digstat or try moving it closer to the boiler. When you see the heating light flashing Red that means the boiler and room stat are connected and it will flash red every few minutes( not sure of the exact interval ) I had the same issue with mine last year, The Worcester guy said that it could be the microwave, wireless router or even a mirror interfering with the signal. As mine was still under warranty they fitted a new programmer and digistat for me.

I changed the batteries last night and it did seem to have any effect. The stat is not particularly far from the boiler, pretty much at the bottom of the stairs where the boiler is in a cupboard at the top.

I have now purchased a new timer/stat and will get this fitted and see if that solves the problem!

    Thanks
