ford focus 14 plate leaking
hello,
so my focus 14 plate started to turn into puddle on the back under the passenger seat and under the back seat (once lifted up discovered water standing in the gaps) . it doesn’t seem to be the obvious like leaking door or window accidentaly left open by children. i have dried the car yesterday only to discovermore water today after heavy rain. where is this water comming from? the boot is dry. help!
also as it is just 6 months out of warranty how likely is it that ford would do it for free?

Free = 0% unless your on good terms with the dealership and still use them for servicing etc.
Check the door seals and the exterior rubbers that seal against the glass.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
so we had look today and the boot was soaking, so it must be some time it was leaking but top layer was dry so no tell tell signs
checked the lights area and it all seems fine bit misty but i think it is condensation. it is all intact over the back wheel so not a scooby what is causing this leak
ford said £90 for just looking 😏
i think i will give it to halfords autocentre and see if they fix it
could it be from under the bumper? someone gone into me 3 months ago but we just drove away as no visual damage. could this cause something dislocating and allowing enough gap for water to go through?0 -

I would hedge a bet that a sealed seam behind the bumper has opened up from someone going into you. Bumpers tend to return to somesort of normal shape, and hide what damage there is to the rear valance and boot pan.
on a dry day, take off the bumper (theres easy to follow tutorials on youtube) and take a look at the damage. a seam or vent is broken i would put a bet on.0 -

Things such as worn brakes, corroded exhaust, dodgy shocks and tyres near to or below the legal limit.
Do yourself a favour and see if you can get a few recommendations for independent garages in your area.0 -
Do not go to Halfords, Kwik fit, or any other fast fit, they will take your money and you will still have a leak, not sure if they know how to remove a bumper LOL, but they sure know how to take your wheels off, which is there goalWe may not win by protesting, but if we don’t protest we will lose.
If we stand up to them, there is always a chance we will win.0 -
I must admit I used this halford for the last few yesrs wigh all my cars ( banger and this focus) and they seemed reasonable, I never had my car in with them for something unusual like this though. will make few calls tomorrow and see where it will lead.
i also found a really useful info here http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/70704-possible-mk3-boot-leak/
if anyone will come across this and a bit technical it may help.
looks like my problem is under the bumper but once all bone dry i will tuck tissues in places and try and figure out which one will get wet first!0 -
it might sound a bit silly but have you considered putting someone in the boot at night then getting another person to shine a very bright torch around the outside of the car to see if they can see the light anywhere?
Provided that there's not much ambient light, you may not even have to close the boot lid fully.0 -

Not sure about taking wheels off, normally it's taking your wallet off you but I'm sure that's what you were alluding to! Totally agree not to use the likes of them for this sort of issue.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
so I went to private garage only to be told that I have to pay attention to how I close my boot. I have kept quiet and paid for the 2h of labour. I have however expected more technical look into the car not just jetspraying my car. since then the boot still leaks so I have booked the car back in. wonder how much this will cost me....0
