Hotmail log in problem

Hi
Can anyone help me?
No matter how I try to do it - https://www.hotmail.com, https://www.hotmail.co.uk, https://www.msn.com etc - my Mabook is not managing to get logged in to my email. This has been happening for a couple fo days.
Has anyone else had this problem?
In the web address bar, it flicks between various log-in addresses as it tries to 'connect, and eventually says it can't find the page.
Any advice will be gratefully received!

Shona

    Hi shona

We're having the same problems as you were - did you manage to fix it?? It seems to be an issue with Mac and Hotmail Live compatibility because I can get on with my Windows PC with no problems.

Anyone else having problem logging into Hotmail ??

Been having problem all day on windows PC.

20% of time get login screen, enter user name & password, get blank screen and error:
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Other 80% of time don't even get login screen, just get blank screen and error:
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

I get same error if I go to MSN, then use link on their page to Hotmail.

All other web sites seem ok.

  • We had this problem at the weekend on the mac, managed to get on eventually, can't remember how though. Sorry! Also since we did get reconnected the hotmail page has changed to "classic view since it works better with our browser" apparently! This is the same on our pc as well.

This seems to be an ongoing compatability issue between Safari and Hotmail Live. We have got round the problem by downloading Firefox (its free) to our Mac and using that to access Hotmail instead of Safari. It seems to be working ok now and fingers crossed it will stay that way!

It is a bit of a pain having to have 2 different types of web browser software but its easier than changing our email address!!

I dont think that Apple and Microsoft are going to be in hurry to address the problem because I'm sure they would rather we use all of their products rather than swap between the two!

I discovered if I go in and delete the relevant cookies - ie the hotmail ones - then I can login in. But After a day or two the same thing happens over again and you need to go in and delete the cookies again.
Is there another way of stopping it from downloading the hotmail cookies or something - any ideas?

    That's interesting.

Still cannot get to Hotmail on windows Pc using Internet Explorer 7.
(tried deleting Hotmail/Live cookies but that didn't help with IE7)

But no problem with Firefox, can get to Hotmail page & login ok.

  • I have been using hotmail, with the mac for months now without any problems until last weekend, and the problem occurred on my pc as well. Why should it suddenly have changed to the "classic view" on the hotmail home page? something must have been changed at "their end".
