Replacing storage heaters

Hello, I am considering buying a flat. It has storage heaters which I want to replace but it doesn't have main gas. Can anyone give me an idea of how much it would cost to replace with them some energy efficient eletric radiators - with a thermostatic control and timer. Or suggest a company

I just don't know where to start! thank you

All electric radiators and heaters are 100% efficient because they convert all the electricity to heat. No electric heater can be any more efficient than any other.

Storage heaters on the other hand, allow efficient use of cheaper electricity if a tariff is available. They allow you to store heat generated by cheaper overnight electricity and release it during the day when electricity is typically more expensive. Unless your storage heaters are all broken, they are probably a better bet than new electric heaters.

2k for my old place. I went to haverland smartwaves - they were excellent. 1 large one, 2 medium size ones, 1 small one and a towel rail. Not cheap but when you consider you can control them via app so can turn on/off at will, and a conventional gas heating system costs a lot more to install.
Didn't cost me much to run at all, and they were excellent at heating the place.

I had economy 10 which meant they were cheaper 8pm-10pm to run, but to be honest I put them on whenever I was cold. Money well spent in my opinion, the storage heaters were inflexible, smelled and given I had done the place up - were horrible to look at. Looking back, I'd still have gone from storage to electric rads. Good decision.
  • Thank you that is very interesting. I've had storage heaters before but perhaps I didn't use them properly.
