How are you supposed to contact Facebook about problems?

Options
Tried to log in this morning and get 'Your account has been disabled'??

I run all the social media streams for an author friend and I need to post some updates today!

I can't find any info on how to get to talk to anyone about this? I've completed their request for ID, but it says that it can take them 30 days to look at that!!!!!!!!

Anyone know how to contact them??

Thanks.

    Two options-
    1. Go to "Your account has been disabled" page, scroll to the bottom, click submit appeal and submit the credentials. Their turnout time should not be more than a day or two.
    2. Create a new account from a different device with different id and phone no. Post your updates and connect with your friends.
Once your old id is restored you can do away with the new one!

    Thanks, I've already done 1.
2 isn't an option. I don't use FB for anything apart from running my friends feeds and to do that I need access to a number of publishers pages which I have admin access too. If I start a new acc I won't have the access on it to post the stuff I have too. . .
  • Don't dismiss the idea of creating a second account.
The way 'social media' so-called 'security' operates means it could happen again.
What if it was a business rival of your friend who reported you, alleging some action which you later prove was legitimate?
Your friend should always have 'two people' capable of carrying out the work.
At the very least the 'two people' could be you with two separate devices and FB accounts, as explained above.
Yes, it will take some time to get admin auth for the new account but it is a sensible precaution, if a FB presence means so much to you or your friend.

    Okay, I get what you're saying, but;

I have around 20 messages on that account from fans for autographed books. How am I going to access them now? I need their address (which are in the messages) to send the books off?
I have advanced copy sent to that account from publisher pages for posting, which I need to access.

The whole process seems a complete shambles with no redress, FB appear to be able to do what they like and have no means of contacting them!

Were they messages to YOU or messages to THE PAGE? If the latter then anyone with admin rights should be able to see messages to the page.

Also ... have you tried accessing your current FB account from another computer, or at least using a different browser? (It might be a browser problem rather than a FB problem).

If your friend/authors have got 20 requests daily for autographed books, then I would suggest the ordering system should be something more robust than a third-party social media system (which wasn't actually designed for this task).

I don't know the details of your business arrangement/contract with your friend/authors, but if you sold them your services on the basis that you would be able to fulfil orders through this system, but can't guarantee it because you don't control the system ...

If you need to deal with this stuff daily, without delay, then you need an ordering system with a Service Level Agreement from the supplier of that system, not a social media system that's vulnerable to interference from other social media users.

I was going to say what googler has, but probably nowhere near as well! Facebook is not the correct medium for running your business.

It's not a business. The books are sent out free to fans that ask for them or reviewers that need them.
There aren't 20 a day, I have to wait for stock to arrive from the US so I can send them out. There's maybe three weeks worth on there. If I'd been aware that this could happen, I'd have copied them off as they came in. I've been using it for years and never had an issue before.

I had no idea that FB could be this flaky. I was using it because all the publishers use it and it was a simple way for them to send content through and have the fans see it.
I also use it because people no longer want to use a website (which is the way we used to do it).
The site gets maybe 20 hits a day now, whereas the FB page gets 5000...

It was used as a pr tool, but I see now it's fundamentally flawed.

Have you tried my suggestions in posts #6 and #7?
