Annual Travel Insurance

Quick question.
I have an annual travel insurance policy currently which runs out mid May.
I am about to book a holiday for the end of May.
If anything happens between now and the policy expiring which causes us to need to cancel the holiday will we be covered (even though the holiday date is out with the policy).?
I plan to take out a further annual policy come expiry but don't really want to start a new one earlier than necessary

Yes (and no!)- you would be claiming on the cancellation cover part of the policy, but the policy won't cover "anything" happening - only the listed events happening would be covered! If anything happens between now and the policy expiring which causes us to need to cancel the holiday will we be covered (even though the holiday date is out with the policy).?0 -
Obviously your cover will only be as good as the policy you've taken out.
To answer your question, you can do it in just the same way as you'd insure a car without losing cover. So you take out your new policy to run from when the old one runs out. If you have an issue before the old policy expires you claim on that one. If it happens after you've taken out the new policy, say while you're away, then you claim on the new policy. You don't have to be with the same company both times as it always pays to shop around.0 -
