Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.

Short them = buy Put Options or similar instruments or sell on a spread bet.

Put Option = The right but not the obligation to sell a share (or other) at a given price at a future time.

If the share price falls then you can "exercise" your option to sell the (option) shares at the higher price and buy them back in the market to balance the transaction and make money.

It may be 'cheap' compared to the South East or London but how does it compare relative to local wages - is it actually cheap or does it just reflect that incomes are lower and hence affordability is reduced.

I can't imagine there is anywhere that you can buy for 6k???
  • jonesya- i said cheap just so people realised that there is a possibility of doing something with such a small amount up north, obviously down south it wouldn't get you far

lynne- i was wondering if anyone had any experience in investing in new builds where the initial amount you need may be quite small

sorry to break it to you but 6k is nothing even up north.

this will probably pay for fees etc and may be very very very tiny deposit.
Not enough for a b2l mortgage as the yield is so bad and as for capital gains ?????

stick it in a ISA shares, bond, inreast only your choice ?

(Up t'North) there are many, many houses available at 3 x or 4 x income.

    Northerners are brighter than Southerners.
