Hello, I'm new to the forum side of things. I'm thinking of setting myself up with the Halifax ShareBuilder scheme.
Has anyone else done this, and if so were you successful?

It looks quite good, from what I can see - I've never used it myself
http://www.halifax.co.uk/sharedealing/sharebuilder.shtml
The thing which made me suspect it was that shares are always bought on the same day of the month - and thus potentially at a higher price than regular [real time] trading. Still, what do you expect for £1.50
However it also says you can sell your shares in real time for as little as £5 which does look very attractive if it means you can sell on a 'busy' day when shares perk up dramatically and just start picking them up again at lower prices regularly thereafter.
I save into an investment trust via a regular savings plan - which is very cheap to buy but it I want to sell I have to post off a day beforehand and only get the next afternoon's 'big trade' price. Thus this Halifax service could be something to use alongside a regular savings approach [buying and selling one - buying the other with the 'profits'] I assume there are no restrictions on the shares available to buy via Halifax
[Will look into this further].....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -
Hi Lawrie

I've not used it personally but people I know recommend it as a very cheap way to build up a share portfolio on a regular saver basis which would otherwise be too expensive.
What shares do you plan to buy?Trying to keep it simple...
