This is what I mean. "Dual tuners" doesn't mean two of each. Assuming, as the OP says, that the terrestrial signal is 'rubbish', this TV is not suitable. It only has a single satellite input. So if it supports recording to USB then it's only going to support one satellite channel at a time.

i'm aware of that, and I'm not aware of any TV with dual Freesat tuners. I'd also agree with you that built-in recording on a TV limits you to just the channel you are watching, so it's not a substitute for a separate PVR.

  • Apologies for the delay, but I just wanted to say thanks for all the replies guys, which are all extremely helpful - far more so than anyone in Currys etc..

I think I shall take the most common advice which appears to be give up on my rather unnecessary ideal, and just buy a TV with both a Freesat and a Freeview tuner .. and then pick up a separate PVR for whichever the TV seems to be able to receive the best picture!

    All the very best.

on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

You'll be restricting your choice a bit if you choose a TV with both Freeview and Freesat - and it's not really necessary. If you have a Freeview recorder and a Freesat recorder, you're very well covered. Unless there's a reason you MUST have Freesat built into the TV...

Have to agree with others. Tv software is generally inferior to set top boxes.
you are also at the mercy of Tv manufacturers for updates/fixes/
not something they are known for.
i run a new Samsung Tv. Very nice and the software works well. however things like media playback are clunky and missing basic features such as remembering last played position.
