Black horse ppi

Hope someone can help me here. I had car finance through black horse back in 2002 until 2007. I am having trouble finding out loan ID number. Would I be able to get bank statements back dated for that long ago to find out the information I need?

  • It would be easier to go straight to Black Horse, although your chances of them having information still will be on the low side.

And remember that Black Horse are only liable for the complaint if you bought it direct from them. If you used a dealer, then the dealer is liable. That creates another issue as dealers were not regulated until Jan 2005.

You could ask your bank if it would be possible to order bank statements from ten years ago, or send a SAR to their data protection dept, requesting all transaction history on the account, costs £10.

If you do obtain these records, they may show the direct debit payments to Black Horse which is your proof of payment but not always the reference number, however, it might be worth trying.
  • Thank you all for your advice. I have tried Black Horse directly and they say they can't find me on their records. Back bank statements seems the best action now.

    Again many thanks, most appreciated

What about the car dealer? After all, they are the ones you would be sending the complaint to as car finance sees the dealers liable unless the dealer worked for or had an agent of black horse working for them.
