Backing up samsung phone query

Options
i have a samsung S7.
in settings under 'backup and restore' it shows that switched on under google account is 'backup my data' and 'automatic restore'.

there is also a samsung account and an option shown saying to use that account to backup my data. (not too sure if i have even activated that one)?

1. is one better than the other?
2. should i back up to both?
3. is there any way of seeing exactly what is backed up in my account? (contacts, texts, whatsapp messages etc...)

many thanks

glad to see the wife let you live tonygold.

i would just use google as using samsung will tie you to their phones. you can backup whatsapp to google also. the only thing you may need samsung backup for is to backup the data on any of their apps - calendar, texts etc

there is a setting in whatsapp to backup to google drive.

you can see what is being backed up to google in your accounts > google account > sync settings. it should be things like contacts, gmail, calendar, google drive, photos etc
