I need a new combi boiler
Plumber favours BAXI as he says Worcester customers have loads of breakdowns

We had a Worcester put in 7 years ago and we've had no complaints and no breakdowns in that time. We've just sold that house and the one in this house is nowhere near as good although it is older. I'd happily buy another Worcester.

    There is no right answer.

Every installer you speak to will tell you something different.

If you look up any of the boiler makes (Baxi, Worcester, Vaillant, Ideal, Viessemann etc) on any review websites you will find negative comment for all of them because most people only write reviews if they have a problem.

I bought a new build with an Ideal Classic regular boiler installed just over 20 years ago. It had a few problems in the first few years and every installer that came to fix it said that Ideal boilers were unreliable and that I should change to a Worcester combi. I am so pleased I didn't as it has been trouble free for the last 10 years. If you read reviews about the Ideal Classic now, they say that they are one of the most reliable boilers.

The point I am trying to make is that no-one really knows how reliable a boiler is going to be. All you can do is ask several installers and read around yourself so that you can make an informed decision.

Remember that installers will get commission/gifts etc from the manufactures and so that will cloud their views.

had our first worcester for over 20 year.
got a Greenstar 38cdi classic installed last year. also got the worcester thermostat.
I used a Worcester accredited installer so I got a 10 year parts and labour guarantee.
My son had a Baxi installed a few year ago and had nothing but problems with it, think he was just unlucky because people do say they are a good brand

I can't see past Intergas now but it's not one that is well known in this country so is very rarely mentioned. With no diverter valve to worry about they are far more reliable as the diverter valves in other boilers are a common reason for breakdown engineers to make money. So far all the installations over the last 2 years have never caused a single bit of bother.

Worcester used to be the best 10-15 years ago but now they don't stand out from the pack like they used too, they break down at the same rate as the rest.

Warranty support should be a big factor in your choice, the longer the better.

Yes, I meant to add that. Some installers are able to get longer warranties on some boilers than other installers.

Worcester boiler doesn’t really stand out but they’re probably the most common boilers out which means easily repairs and spares. There warranty is definitely industry leading.

As already been said you will get all different opinions here, mine preference is Vaillant.
