Slow draining water in bathroom sink

Hi
My bathroom sink drains water slowly and has done so for the past month or so. I have tried Mr Muscle and Unblocker but it seems to have made no difference at all.
Also the sink drains fine for the first 1-2 minutes and then slows down so that the water level rises in the sink/basin. After a few minutes it drains fine again. This seems like strange behaviour, shouldn't the water drain consistently? This leads me to believe it may be something else that is the problem and not clogged up pipes.
Any thoughts on what it could be and how i can fix the problem?
thanks

Try a Plunger. Sounds like the blockage is away from the sink a way.0

Where does it drain to? If its visible have you checked drains externally?0

I live in a flat on the 2nd floor. Pipes and drains all not visible except for the under basin pipes.0

Any other suggestions?0

I have a simpler problem with the bathroom basin. My solution is to pour a kettle full of boiling water down the plug hole, then put the plug in and fill the basin with as hot as possible water to the brim. After 5 minutes pull the plug.
My theory is that the boiling water softens whatever is blocking and the rush of hot water 5 min later clears it away.0
