Egg PPI via Barclays - Payout

Hi just got back £5200 from Barclays for a Egg card that I had years ago that got converted to a Barclaycard. Thanks MSE, used a link on your site to go straight to the Barclays site to raise my complaint. Raised a query first to confirm I had PPI, then once they had confirmed escalated into a claim. They have taken a few weeks longer than they said, but paid out :j:j. Thanks again MSE it was fairly straight forward....please...please do it !! If you even think you have ever had PPI at some point but not sure..nothing to lose.

Hi I had an egg card and barclaycard tell me that they cannot locate my details and it may have been archived, could you send me the link please for the egg card refund forms,

There is no refund, you make a complaint it was missold.

If they can't find your details your next step is send a SAR and £10 to see what's left. That's if you want to spend £10.

And just because you spend it and they may find your details, that doesn't mean your complaint will be successful.

oh wow, I had a text from Barclays last Monday to say they have re opened my complaint and when I phoned them it was my old egg card they had taken over. I would never be as lucky as your though and get that much! Well done

oh can I please ask you was the ppi amount very small and most of that interest?

I'm just in the process of completing a similar application to Barclays about Egg. What reason did you give for mis-selling? Was it that the box was automatically ticked on the form or that it was sold as a compulsory element on the phone? Would be great if you can help with some info!

Pre-populated tick boxes were only a feature on (some) internet sales. They were deemed unfair because the customer had to actively untick the box.

They were never a feature of any paper application forms.

It is unwise to ask others what their complaint was, otherwise you risk complaining about something that didn't apply to you.
Construct your own personal complaint.

The card could have been with citibank (Canada Square). I cam home to a letter tonight that they're refunding me a cheque for £258. Not a huge amount, but better than nothing.
