Asbestos dumped next to the road - council refuses to action

Which prompts a question. Could OP simply collect up the items and take them to the nearest recycle/council facility? If so, this proactive approach is far more neighbourly than bothering ones busy MP.
Believe it or not, my local council has sent warning notices to some people telling them they are not permitted to rake up leaves on the verge outside their homes and put the leaves in their garden waste bins (for which they have to pay an annual charge). You see the leaves on the road are not domestic waste and therefore not permitted in the domestic waste bins. :wall:"In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0 -

Also, putting the waste in the road could cause an accident, and if that were to happen then very serious criminal charges might follow."In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0 -
The problem is in many areas the townies who run the council services make it impossible to dispose of materials using the council facility so having collected them up the neighbourly people then discover they have the same problem on their hands the people who originally dumped the carp had.

1) Asbestos is not household waste, so Councils do not have to accept it "Civic Amenity" sites.
2) That's crazy. Technically they are correct. You shouldn't be putting waste in your bin that is not your waste. But legally leaves that fall on the public highway are household waste and the council should be sweeping the streets.0 -
I would of thought this would have come under the remit of Environmental Health at the council.
Have you tried contacting them?
We had the same happen. It took a few attempts to get the council to remove it but they did in the end.0
