Travel Insurance Query

Hey,
My girlfriend and I are going away for a year and will need to get the backpacker style of travel insurance. Ideally, we'd like to get our insurance on one policy but with me being English and my girlfriend French, i'm slightly concerned the company wont pay out should be need to claim.
To be eligible for most policies you have to a UK resident which is understandable. We have lived and worked in the UK for 3 of the last 5 years. She has a NI number, bank account etc but we have no fixed abode there, just my parents address.
Would the fact that she has worked there for 3 years, has a bank account, NI number etc be enough the class her a residence for insurance purposes?
Any help on this would be appreciated as its the only thing stopping me getting a joint policy.

Try STA travel and World Nomads. I'm pretty certain the latter doesn't care where you're from, however I don't know if you can get joint policies for backpacker insurance like you can for normal travel insurance. Also make sure that the policy covers anything you might want to do, Scuba diving, bungee jumping, high altitudes etc. Good luck!
Where are you going?0 -
We'll be going to Finland, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand. Possibly a few mini trips to the South Pacific Islands as well.
I've had a look at both STA and World Nomads and they are extremely expensive compared to Boots and Allianz. I can get an individual policy at Boots for £171 and Allianz at £202 but my girlfriend is finding it hard to find a French insurer that is less than €500. Even though we'll be doing the same things, Allianz are charging €600+ which is strange.0
