For girls ebay do tonnes of job lot items. I bought lip glosses & hair stuff and sold the left overs back on ebay and got my money back so free goodie bags and kids loved them!
  • to the boredam buster, thanks so much for the time and effort you have made in putting this information down, I have a 5 year old party to organise in march and I am already ******** myself!!!!
  • Why not buy some outdoor toys and have it at home. I think you'll save yourself quite abit of money.

Also, food wise, get in lots of goodies and therefore, you'll cut down on takeaway expenses.

  • contact your local sports centre as ours has themed parties great for all ages, football, rollerskating etc and they usually do different kinds of menus too.
worth looking into can work out around £10-15 a head

Has anyone got any good party ideas (food and activities)

There'll be about 5 toddlers and 10 adults.

The kids seem to love balloons, so that's one thing.

regarding food,we try to avoid processed stuff or too much sugar.

    Any ideas welcome!

  • I think there are quite a few threads on parties in the families board, so I'll move this there for you.

I hope you have a great time!

Hi, over the years I have had many children's parties. I find that at that age they eat very little, so don't make too much.

I cut sandwiches with a teddy bear shaped cutter - and no matter what's in them they always get eaten. I usually do marmite/ham/cheese spread or even jam. Another way kids love sandwiches is to do pinwheels. Roll sliced bread flat and put filling on (not too much) then roll like swiss roll and slice - great finger sized sandwiches.

I also usually do chicken nuggets, cocktail sausages/sausage rolls and small pieces of pizza. f you want healthy, carrot/cucumber sticks and maybe some dips.

For sweet things I do a variety of cakes and biscuits - kids love lots of colour so think about this when buying/making.

As you say kids love balloons. How about a treasure hunt - just hide a few goodies and the children can look for them. Also, games like musical bumps, pass the parcel (depends on age of kids how much they like this) and so on. Have fun!

For adults I have found they usually prefer food they can pick up and eat easily, so avoid anything too messy.

it was my sons first birthday recently, and i got a load of streamers, and hung the balloons on them, from the ceiling, so that the kids had to pull the streamers to get a balloon. Also got a load of bubbles which they all enjoyed playing with.

Food wise, my thoughts are that its a party, so they can eat sugary rubbish, as its a one off :p so jam butties, cocktail sausages, cheese and pineapple, crisps, cakes, jelly and ice cream etc..... :o
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
