    Hi there

I've had a browse of the very long children's party sticky but wondered if anyone had any ideas about games to play at my 5 year old daughters princess party. We are having it at home and there are 2 hours to fill! The guests will be coming dressed as princesses/fairies etc so any games along these lines would be good. We've got the Easter break to prepare!

So far we are thinking Hunt the Glass Slipper(thimble), Find Prince Charming (a lucky dip with lots of frogs and one prince!), Pin the flag on Sleeping Beuty's Castle, the usuals like Pass the Parcel and Musical Statues. A bit of fairy cake decorating and possible tiara decorating as well.

Any other ideas to fit in with the general theme? The easier the better preferably.

    THanks all.

Someone on MSE recommended this website when I was organising a Bob the Builder Party, it is great.

All you have to do is click on the idea best suited to yourself, there is a princess one, and there will be loads of people recommending games and the whole set up of the day.

  • Need help for 5 year olds party, worrying enough because people aren't phoning to say children are turning up but also need to know what to put in party bags, nothing too expensive but the party bags he comes away with have toys and all sorts in them, haven't got a clue, also cheap ideas for food to put on would be handy, it's a while since I was 5 and we just ended up having a couple of cousins round for tea, Thanks

I use clear plastic pint glasses from poundland so you can see whats in them and they are easier for kids to carry. Also they can add things if they win anything in pass the parcel etc. AND they are better value for money than bags.
If you are feeling posh they look great wrapped in tissue paper;)
Go for cheap and cheerful, bit retro, people try TOO hard nowadays, kids like little plastic toys, drumstick lollies, a mini mars bar, a bun or a cupcake. Have a look at https://www.hawkin.co.uk for great stuff you probably had as a kid yourself:)

that's a good idea about the pint glasses, you could even get the children to make a sticker with their name on it to stick onto their glass - it's good to have that kind of activity for children to get stuck into while you are waiting for everyone to arrive.

most of the ones ds1 had have bubbles, a bouncy ball & maybe a plastic toy in. i personally put only 1 chocolate thing in & put raisin boxes, fruit bars etc as ds1 goes really hyper on sugar & some of his friends are the same & their mums would go mad if i put loads of sweets in!
if u have time in future the book people sometimes do lucky dips where u get a box of books that work out at £1 or less each - great as look more expensive!
as for food just sandwiches & finger food is the norm round here- sausages, cheese on sticks etc. nothing too fancy or messy.
    anyway, have a great party!
Cleaning the house while children are growing is like shovelling snow when it's still snowing!
