    bad mum,

I didn't notice you being abrupt.

What I did notice is that last night you came on and posted quite a few posts on various boards regarding birthday parties. Tonight you have edited your posts considerably and in doing so have entirely changed the meaning. I am sure that I wasn't the only one to read the original posts.

As I have said before, I don't think this is the place for this converstation. bindiboo asked for help with ideas for birthday parties. If you wish to continue this, then please send me a private message.

    Any ideas?

He will be 6 at the end of the summer, but will need to sort it and give out invites before school closes.

Had a party at home before- do not want to go down this route again!!

Thought of kids club at uci £1.95 a child, plus give them a goody bag, drink, popcorn etc?

    Swimming, too young?

Bowling? but at 6 quid a head expensive?

A bit sick of playgyms and pub play area`s.

His parties the last one, not bothered about doing the same as others, but kids get fed up after 15 visits to local playgym/pub?

My youngest went to a party for 5-6 year olds in the small pool of the local swimming pool. Both parents and some other parent volunteers helped out and a lifeguard was on duty. Apparantly it was great fun and they all enjoyed it.

He's also been to a cinema party as you describe above and enjoyed that too.

The last one he went to was in a friends house. He only invited about half a dozen of his best friends. His Mam made loads of pizza dough and put loads of toppings on the table, and they all made their own pizzas. It was low cost as she didn't have to do a birthday tea as they all ate their own pizza!

Rather than have a party, I said to mine they can instead choose anywhere they would like to go (within reason!) and that day can be their own special day where they make the decisions on everything that happens. It's much less hassle than a party IMO.

On their last birthdays, my 8 year old chose to go to a war museum and picked the food that went in our picnic. My 6 year old wanted tickets to go and see the Appasionata horse show, which was brilliant!
Here I go again on my own....

We've done the wacky type parties for ease! but we've also had a few swim parties. The first was for my oldest's 4th birthday...eek! But they are by far the ones most enjoyed by the kids. You need plenty of food for a buffet afterwards as they are always starving (remember that feeling when you came out of the baths ??).

9 yr old decided he was a bit old (!!) for splash parties, but after a relative had one, he asked for one for his 9th as it reminded him how fun they are.

think the 2 small pools, plus lifeguard, were about £40 for an hour, and about £20 - £30 for the room for an hour.
