Advice on Barrhead travel - name change after deposit

My mother in law has just (3 days ago) paid £400 deposit for a holiday for her, my wife and our son in May this year. She booked the holiday under my wife's maiden name though! And my wife's current passport is under her married name.
She called them to change it, and has been told that to change the name will incur a cost of... £400!!!
My wife is going to go in to the shop with her tomorrow to try and sort it out. They apparently offered £150 "off" this admin charge as a goodwill!
***So the full story my wife was given was that the charge came from Disney resorts... Barrhead 'managed' to get the charges removed.
Can anyone advise please? I don't have the booking paperwork to hand.

It is best to avoid dealing with the dishonest spammers altogether - I've seen Barrhead kicked-off so many forums, so they are pretty consstent with it.0

It'll be cheaper for your wife to get a new passport in her maiden nameAccept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Update - my wife visited the shop with her mum today and got the name changed with no charge.
We're disgusted with them for behaving like that when they only had to deal with a slightly ditzy woman in her mid 70's!0 -
Did they explain why they had quoted £400 over the 'phone ?0

Barrhead is a reputable outfit with a "High Street "presence in several locations.0

The way they signed-up to stooge on numerous boards, against the T&Cs of every one of them says everything about their 'reputation' and willingness to play fast and loose IMO.
That's a stain you don't wipe away easily and a quick google suggests they were still up to their old tricks as recently as two days ago.0
