Extractor fan fitted to new windoe

Hi everyone,
So we're getting a new bathroom which includes a new window. Our current window has the fan attached to it which is something we're looking to keep as our walls are so thick (old house).
So when buying a new extractor fan, will any work or do we have to get a special can? Can't seem to find any in your traditional hardware stores.
Many Thanks

Can you not keep the current window with the fan in it?
If not, ask the company supplying the window what the options are. If a fan in the window isn't possible, can you extract through the ceiling and out through the soffits? It would seem a better set up anyway, because then you'd be extracting the damp air through the ceiling and replacing it with fresh air from outside (via the open/ajar window).0 -

We want a new window as the one we have is really old plus it doesn't open. We can get a double glazed window with the hole precut, we just don't know if a normal extractor would suffice or if it has to be a special one?0
