Can I cancel contract

Ok long story so sorry but heres goes I brought a house and wanted to get conservatory fitted and had a quote during a busy time with builders in, got the sales pitch 10% discount if taken today and price was very good this was end of December. Don't remember getting loads of paper work but remember defo getting first page with the price but not told about cancellation time frame either unfortunately can't find this. Was told work get started mid Feb by sales person and completion around first week March so thought I had till Feb to cancel. Although they tried get started in Jan which I said no to I've since found out about their feedback and it's not great. I've tried to cancel and got told im out of cancellation period but never was a date discussed when the work was to start and never was told when I could cancel by and haven't paid deposit or anything either. I also had a surveyor round this month who did redesign so its different from orignal paperwork and nothing on there either about cancellation so don't know if that can make a difference. I won't have money together by time they wanna complete which is asap as originally calculated march and I don't want work that's poor that gonna fall apart by poor company. Not sure what I can do anyone with advice.

What does your contract/paperwork say? No one on here is going to be able to give effective advice until we know what you signed and what it commits you to. Your first priority is finding that paperwork.

The cancelation period is 14 days after you sign as long as they gave it to you in the correct format.

If they did then you can't cancel without penalty. It won't be cheap, get them to send the paperwork you signed to prove they gave you all the correct cancelation terms.
