Fair point, that. Although, they do seem to cancel fairly easily, even for people who cannot prove they were actually customers. I believe someone recently noted on a Pepipoo thread that Athena ANPR has never taken anyone to court for a PCN (nor, I imagine, has Lidl).pappa_golf wrote: »Not content even with this, Lidl have hit on a new wheeze to extract the maximum amount of cash from their own customers. Car parking is now only free for 10 minutes. After that, the customers must be validated at the till for 60 minutes of free parking.
Now customers spending 50 minutes shopping are faced with an unsolvable dilemma if there are queues at the checkout. They cannot just leave, because they have exceeded their 10 minutes free parking. They cannot get out before the 60 minutes because the queues are too large.
(Yes, the UK boss' surname is written Härtnagel in German, but can be written "ohne" Umlaut and "mit" an 'e' instead, if a German language keyboard is not available.)

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

:j I've just had an Athena PCN successfully squashed today after emailing the CEO of LIDL with a copy of my store transaction for the day I overstayed my welcome by 16 minutes, I've been sent 3 demanding letters requesting £45, then £90 and further threatening letters regarding bailiffs and CCJ if it went to court...was furious...victory for a genuine customer...thanks for the heads up on his email address!! :T:T0

Thanks for this information. I've just written to both Christian Haertnagel and to Jesper Højer after spending hours looking on various forums and researching the best way forward. Lidls customer service gave me the usual fob off response via email and on their facebook page, so bristling with indignation I have bypassed the minions and written to the two top men. It will be interesting to see what response I get.0

Thanks everyone, after taking your advice I have now received a mail cancelling my ticket from Lidl.
I have not appealed to Athena yet, was planning to do this today, but Lidl were very prompt.
Question: Do I still appeal to Athena on the appeals page?
Or trust Lidl to speak to Athena and wait for a response.
Thanks0 -

Good news:beer:
Whilst you have confirmation from Lidl, best now you
confirm to Athena that it has been cancelled.
