Surely they gave you an address to go look at it? Otherwise how would you have known where to go?

Have you phoned the woman yet?

Failing all the above see if any other cars available from this woman and pretend to be an interested party to get her address

Thing is a car was desperately required for Monday and today is Monday, to me a working car for Monday is the priority, the fight with whoever is an aside.

Receipt? does this not have the traders name and address on it? If not you should have asked for that or run a mile.

Go chap on the door of the person on the V5 and ask who they traded the car into and what was wrong with it. That'll then give you the dealerships address and verification if it was an existing fault.

That the wife sold it on his behalf doesn't make it a private sale.

Op, the cars needs to be taken to a trustworthy garage, the starting issue could be that the battery is weak or needs replacing, again with the white smoke it just could be that due to the fact they are traders selling cars and your car has been sat around for maybe weeks in this cold weather before you bought it it jsut may need a good run so the sensors adjust to normal driving again, with the coolent top it up make a mark on the bottle and see if it goes down over the next few days

you could just be getting worried over nothing, but like i say take it to a garage and get them to look at it over

i have a car that im selling for my brother which has been parked up for 2 weeks now when i started it yesterday it was also smoking white but was clear when it warmed up,

hope this helps but your mind at ease, how much did you pay for it ?
People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. We want the biggest house, fanciest car, and we don't mind paying the sky high mortgage to put up that show. We sacrifice our biggest assets our health and time, We feel happy when we see people look up to us and see how successful we are”
