Best Bank Account for non-Uni Student

Options
Hi there,

My son has a Lloyds Under 19's Current Account but is now 19 years old and needs to review his account. He tried to open a student account with Santander but was unable to as, although he is a College student, these accounts are only eligible to Uni students who will be paying in a student loan. Therefore, can anyone advise on the best current account for him please?

Thanks very much.

Have a look at the best current accounts offered here but also think about what branches you have around you, or around his college, as although in this digital age you may not need to visit a branch you just don't know and could make it worth narrowing down, more so if he will be going to uni and get a student account in the future.

The best bank account depends very much on his circumstances. Does he have any savings that he wants to get interest on? How many direct debits does he have, e.g. Credit card, mobile phone contract.

As he is still at college I'm assuming most/all of the household bills are not in his name, so the Santander 123/123 Lite/Natwest Reward are unlikely to be the accounts for him at this time.
