I had a new Samsung fridge freezer delivered on 5/11. It broke down on 30/12 and I lost everything in my freezer and fridge. I contacted Currys Know How on 31/12 as I bought it on line. They said I had to call Samsung to book an engineer visit but they were nt open til 2/1! I then had to phone Samsung on 2/1 . An engineer came out on 5/1 , switched it on and off, went away then called to say he had found an internal leak and would contact Currys within 48 hours. I heard nothing as to whether it would be repaired or replaced. I spent over an hour on the phone on Monday 8/1 trying to get answers, eventually to be told that it was going to be replaced but was out of stock currently. I finally got a replacement fridge freezer on Friday 12/1. I emailed Currys with my Tesco receipts asking to be compensated for all the loss of food plus the shoddy service I had received, nothing. I resent the email again nothing. I then had to call them to go through everything.. They have offered me £34.60 for the freezer food that was lost and have offered, as a gesture of goodwill up to £41.70 to cover the food in the fridge. Should I accept this? I do not want to claim off my household insurance as it was due to a technical fault that the fridge/freezer broke down, but I have been left massively out of pocket. Any advice appreciated. Many thanks

So how much food did you lose? You can’t have lost everything in the fridge.0

How massively out of pocket are you?
Many fridge stored items would still be fine for several days without storage.0 -

Specially outside in December.

Agree with the above, did you really have to dispose of everything in the fridge/freezer. I think a little over £76 is generous enough, if I went through the entire contents of my FF I'd doubt there would be much more than about £40 worth of food if I was being honest.0

£34.60 for freezer + £41.70 for fresh/fridge?!
That's not too shabby tbh... Like, me and my partner can get 2-3 weeks worth of stuff for that price. I am slightly surprised that you've been offered less for freezer stuff though, as typically (but you may be different) the bulk of food is frozen to extend best before/use by date.
I'd like to know when your Tesco receipt is dated. If before 25/12 then I reckon you've probably ate the bulk of the food you bought. If beyond like the 27/12 then fair play I guess.
But yea, what ARE your losses and how far is your figure from theirs?0
