    :(OK a new fortnight!
    A new fortnight,a new budget
    Income£354 for 5-18 February
    bills/outgoings online:
    insurance: £40
    gas & electric : £81
    Water rates :£35
    phone & broadband : £28
    birthday fund : £20
    Asd@ home delivery : £42
    Asd@ delivery voucher : £5 total - £251
    cash for this fortnight,£103!!!!!
This is the tougher fortnight, with lots of DDs coming out. I had to pare down the Asd@ shop to the minimum, and I will have to go carefully to stay in the budget.I will have to wait till the end of the fortnight to see if there is anything for the Sealed Pot challenge, but I do have collected coins which will go to the House & Home Fund at the credit union on Wednesday, plus £8 put aside to swap for £2 coins for the £2 coin challenge,so I am still saving a little. But no book etc this fortnight. This is where the frugal living comes in! :D:D

Completed my first book of the month,Catherine Asaro's Nebula winning The Quantum Rose,an engaging mix of romance, families and space opera, with an interesting new planet to learn about, and an intriguing new mystery in the mix. I am working my way through all the Nebula winners, and that makes 44/53 completed.I am attempting to read the rest this year, but some are very large, complex and certainly not easy reads but I can but try.

If its any help, I cant do low carb/stick to x points etc. Just make me want to eat more. Looking back on how I used to eat when not overweight, it was definitely smaller portions and skipping breakfasts. So, I am trying the only eat during 12 and 8pm diet. Whatever its called. I think the timescale can be adjusted to suit the individual but certainly only eat during that 8 hour window. Its cut out snacking in the evening at least so for me thats a bonus and I am not particularly fond of breakfasts either but all diets tell you to eat them. Only lost 1lb this week but fingers crossed it will be 1 each week from now on. We can only try.

Yes I like the 16/8 intermittent fasting way as well, 12 to 8 pm eating.I dont mind skipping breakfast, just have a lot of hot drinks all morning. Then you can have a big meal, probably only a small snack around 5,and then another good size evening meal. You are cutting out probably 600 calories a day minimum without feeling deprived.
I read one interesting thing about it the other day, that though you dont deplete your glycogen levels till after 12 hours fasting, thus only using fat as fuel for 4 hours a day, quite a good proportion of that fat for fuel comes off the hidden visceral fat on your organs and waistline, not just the surface outer layer,so that is very good for you.:T
I think just a steady 1 lb a week is the wisest way, your body has more chance to adjust to new ways of living etc so that you dont immediately pile the weight back on.
Diets can be so restrictive,no carbs,or no fats,or no dairy,or no protein, its all bewildering and hard to do in the long run.but I think I could happily stick with 16/8 in the long term. Will try anyway.
Personally I find high fat very low carbs difficult to follow. Never liked Atkins,or the old Red Days on SW,I feel hungry again very quickly after such meals. I read somewhere that our stomachs have a sort of setpoint,of ''stretch'' where we feel full only when our stomach has reached that certain size after eating. A 3 egg omelette just doesnt do the trick for me,it doesnt touch the sides:rotfl:
Thats why I loved the old Green Days on SW,I could fill my stomach and feel satisfied. Unfortunately the diabetes is a stumbling block to some extent, all those carbs! And the diabetic nurse said I should only eat 2 pieces of fruit a day. I usually ate at least 5:( So I think I will def plan to fill up on veggies much more, take in less sugar, cut out fizzy drinks entirely, and try for a variety of foods, not excluding any one category We'll see how it goes.....very badly this week after the birthday celebrations.Probably will have put on 2 pounds at least:eek::eek::eek:
    Good luck this week!

Its so hard as you say with all these different opinions regarding weight and health ,i have always just eaten as healthy as possible ,i tend to follow the likes of Adele Davis ,Gayelord Hauser from years ago to me eating really healthy is the most important thing and if you can cut out all sugar ..very difficult i know and sometimes you have to have a little treat or in my case sometimes a big treat but on the whole if i eat no sugar and keep to my very healthy way of eating i feel happy ,there is nothing that i cut out really other than the sugar and bad fats otherwise i eat every thing else but must say i do eat mainly fruit which you cant have too much of now sadly and tons of vegetables ,seeds ,nuts and oily fish .Personally i find if i dont eat the sugar i always feel satisfied .It sounds like you are doing brilliantly though doing exactly what you are doing and incredible weight loss well done and i think myself one pound a week loss is exactly right .By the way your meals sound absolutely yummy .
